Rangers: Michael Young Wants Trade

Michael YoungSpeaking on a conference call with members of the media Monday, Rangers general manager Jon Daniels confirmed that infielder Michael Young has requested a trade.

"It's not our first choice (to trade him). But we understand his feelings and where he's at at this point in his career," Daniels told reporters. "Nothing is imminent."

Young's unhappiness with his situation in Texas stems from the team's signing of third baseman Adrian Beltre and acquisition of slugging catcher/first baseman Mike Napoli in a trade in recent weeks.

The writing on the wall is obvious to anyone, most keenly Young. There aren't going to be many at-bats to go around with Napoli likely to gobble up some of the playing time at DH and Beltre, who was signed for big money, supplanting him at the hot corner.
