ARLINGTON, Texas -- Baseball was proud of itself for starting Game 3 of the World Series at 6 o'clock Saturday, its earliest start for the so-called Fall Classic in 23 years. The game ended before 10 p.m. Eastern time, which improved the chances that boys and girls watched the whole game."We've gotta have the children," said Charles Steinberg, a senior advisor to commissioner Bud Selig. "Ours is the family game."
When Texas Rangers pitcher Colby Lewis threw a strike at 6 p.m. CT Saturday, it was the earliest first pitch in a World Series since Game 6 in 1987 between the Minnesota Twins and St. Louis Cardinals.
"It shows that baseball is listening to families who are asking to help make sure their kids can watch the game," Steinberg said.
