Brees and Saints Beat Down Seahawks, Rediscover Their 'O' and Their Mojo

NEW ORLEANS -- Drew Brees completed passes to 10 different receivers Sunday afternoon. None of them were named Reggie Bush, or Jeremy Shockey, or Pierre Thomas. Six of his passes were caught in the end zone. Two of them were by Seattle defenders -- and the New Orleans Saints still managed to score 34 points and coast to their seventh win of a rapidly-improving season.

Afterward, in the bowels of the Superdome, Coach Sean Payton and the players fretted over the missed opportunities: those interceptions, the times they came up short in the red zone, the bad snap by the brand-new long snapper on an extra point, another chip-shot field-goal miss by Garrett Hartley, and even about the big plays the defense gave up from time to time.

Yet while the concerns might be legitimate for a team trying to defend its Super Bowl championship, they couldn't come close to overshadowing the pure beauty of the offense that Payton designed, Brees directed and the rest of the players executed against the Seahawks.
