INDIANAPOLIS -- The Indianapolis Colts entered Monday Night's game beat up, and without several critical starters. They left it all alone in first place in the AFC South.
With their defense shutting down the Texans early, the Colts pulled away early and held on for a 30-17 victory over the Houston Texans, in front of 66,363 at Lucas Oil Stadium in downtown Indianapolis on Monday night.
The Colts, who have won six of the past seven AFC South titles, now have sole possession of first place for the first time this season. They are 5-2, with the Tennessee Titans at 5-3 and Houston at 4-3. Jacksonville is 4-4.
A few quick thoughts on Texans-Colts:
o. The Colts played not only without running back Joseph Addai (neck/shoulder), but without safety Bob Sanders, defensive tackle Antonio Johnson, wide receiver Austin Collie (thumb) and linebacker Kavell Conner. Collie isn't expected back for several weeks. Tight end Dallas Clark (wrist) was placed on injured reserve last week.
