Suns Hit 22 Three-Pointers Against Lakers, Second Most in NBA History

The Phoenix Suns beat the Los Angeles Lakers 121-116 Sunday night at Staples Center by doing what they do best: making 3-pointers.

In fact, the Suns made 22 of them against the Lakers, a franchise record and second most all-time in NBA history. The Orlando Magic hit 23 three-pointers against the Sacramento Kings on Jan. 13, 2009.

Twenty-two is also the most threes the Lakers have allowed in a game in their franchise history.

Overall, the Suns were 22 of 40 from 3-point range, led by Jason Richardson, who was 7-for-10. Other Suns 3-point shooters included Hedo Turoglu (5-for-7), Channing Frye (4-for-9), Goron Dragic (3-for-7), Steve Nash went (2-for-3) and Jared Dudley (1-for-5).

The Lakers played catch-up the entire night against the Suns, whose guards continued to penetrate the champs' defense and find open guys camping out above the stripe.

Turkoglu made the biggest three of the night when he knocked one down with Kobe Bryant right on him to give the Suns a 115-109 lead with 34 seconds left to play in regulation.

Richardson led the way for the Suns with 34 points, Nash added 21 points and 13 assists, Frye had 20 points and Turkoglu had 17 points.

It was the Suns first win at Staples Center since Jan.17, 2008.
