Justin Blackmon, Brandon Weeden Returning to Oklahoma State

Filed under:

Justin Blackmon and Brandon Weeden will bypass the 2011 NFL Draft and stay in school for another year, the pair announced Wednesday.

Blackmon, the Biletnikoff Award winner as the nation's best receiver, and Weeden, a first-team All-Big 12, paired to form an explosive connection in 2010. Blackmon set an NCAA record with 12 straight games with 100 receiving yards and a touchdown. With no experience as a starter until last year, Weeden threw for 4,277 yards with 34 touchdowns and just 13 interceptions.

Blackmon was considered a top-three receiver in the draft class, and someone likely to go in the upper half of the first round. Weeden was seen as a mid-to-late-round prospect at best because of his age. After high school he chose professional baseball, and was drafted as a pitcher in 2002 by the Yankees, but an arm injury ended his baseball career.

The return of the duo bodes well for Oklahoma State's preseason standings.
