Jon Embree Reportedly Offered Colorado Head Coaching Job

Jon Embree has received a formal offer to become the next coach at Colorado, according to Bill McCartney.

The coaching great, a candidate to replace Dan Hawkins himself, would have hired Embree and former Buffalo Eric Bieniemy on his staff if he got the job, only to groom one of the two to eventually replace him. Instead, the supposed hope is that Embree accepts the job and hires Bieniemy as his offensive coordinator.

"It was never about me doing it again," McCartney said in an interview with The Denver Post. "It was about setting the table for a black man to come in (as head coach). And he (Mike Bohn) hired one. Now, give him a chance."

Embree is currently the tight ends coach for the Washington Redskins, while Bieniemy coaches running backs for the Minnesota Vikings.

Colorado AD Mike Bohn released a statement Thursday saying no one had been offered the job.
