Enigmatic Alex Kovalev Up to His Old Tricks

How about "The Magician" as a new nickname for Ottawa's Alex Kovalev?

And that's magician as in disappearing act rather than someone with soft hands who can work magic with his stick and the puck.

Kovalev was expected to shoulder some of the Senators' secondary scoring this season but one assist in six games doesn't come close to cutting it.

And if you look back to last season, the $5 million forward has less than a handful of points in his last two dozen games.

Nice job if you can get it.

There used to be a time when the enigmatic Kovalev would strike fear in the opposition goalie just by winding up for a shot.
