SAN FRANCISCO -- Rangers hitting coach Clint Hurdle normally holds detailed meetings with his players, feeding them plenty of information about the opposing pitchers.This week, though, he has had an assistant. With almost every Giants pitcher they discussed, Bengie Molina chimed in with a few extra pieces of inside information.
"I think Bengie is a like a scout on the ground," Hurdle said. "He's caught them. He knows a lot of the tendencies. ... It's very unique, most definitely. We'll see how capable we are of putting it into play."
The Rangers catcher was with the Giants from 2007 until the middle of 2010, when he was traded to make room for Buster Posey. Molina arguably knows more about the Giants staff than anyone outside of the San Francisco organization. As the Rangers and Giants prepare to meet in the World Series, one of the most intriguing things to watch will be whether Molina's insight helps the Rangers.
