U.S. national team coach Bob Bradley sent a clear, one-word message with his player selections for the upcoming friendlies against Poland and Colombia: continuity.
It's a frustrating message for those looking four years down the road to Brazil and hoping for some new blood. But Bradley can't afford to look that far ahead. There's a tournament he needs to win next summer, and there's not as much time to prepare as the calendar might suggest.
Bradley surely knows that his second four-year mandate is a bit flimsy. If he fails to win the 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup on home soil, thus depriving the national team of a trip to the 2013 Confederations Cup in Brazil, there will be fans with pitchforks and torches gathering in Chicago for a march on Soccer House.
