Jack Nicklaus Out of Hospital After Suffering Intestinal Infection

Golf great Jack Nicklaus, was taken to a South Florida hospital Saturday morning with abdominal pains, the Palm Beach Post reported.

The 70-year-old Hall of Famer is suffering from a case of diverticulitis - a painful intestinal infection -- according to the golfer's wife, Barbara.

Barbara Nicklaus told the newspaper doctors told Jack Nicklaus if he had waited much longer before going to the hospital, he risked major surgery.

Nicklaus, who lives in North Palm Beach, was tested at Jupiter Medical Center then sent home with prescriptions for antibiotics and told to rest, according to the the report.

"He's doing much better," said Barbara Nicklaus, adding her husband started feeling ill Thursday during the soccer game of one of his grandchildren.

The Golden Bear was a no-show at a charity gala in Miami Beach Saturday night while Barbara made it, prompting questions.
