Miami Heat File Suit for Equal Radio Coverage as Dolphins

If you know anyone in South Florida with a radio station that has a lot of wattage, clear signal strength and plenty of airtime, you might want to put them in touch with the Miami Heat.

The Heat filed a breach of contract suit against Clear Channel, which owns their radio rights, alleging that the company is failing to give them what they're giving the Miami Dolphins, whose games also appear on a Clear Channel station in the market.

The South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported that the Heat's suit claims Clear Channel has given the Dolphins additional team shows and lengthy pre-game shows that the NBA team is entitled to under the terms of their deal. Also, Dolphins games air on an FM station whose signal is clearer than the AM station that Heat games air on.

It all boils down to the terms of Clear Channel's contract with the Heat, which, according to the Sun-Sentinel, gives the Heat "a most favored nation status," meaning anything offered to another team would also have to be offered to the Heat.
