ATLANTA -- When an 18-year-old
Bobby Cox was signed from a small farming community in California to play professional baseball, the scout -- who surely didn't realize just how smart he was going to look in the future for introducing Cox to the baseball community -- gave him one small piece of advice.
He told Cox to put 100 percent into everything he did -- to give it everything you've got, because the experience would go by very quickly.
"He was right on," said Cox in his farewell press conference on Wednesday. "It has flown by for me. And the reason it has flown by for me is because you're having fun."
