ASHBURN, Va. -- Albert Haynesworth's frustrating two seasons with the Redskins turned tragic Thursday night when his half-brother, Lance McCoy, died in an accident Thursday night in Nashville. Haynesworth flew home upon learning of his brother's death. The former Tennessee Titans All-Pro defensive lineman didn't practice on Friday and his status for Sunday's game with Green Bay is uncertain.According to the police, McCoy, 23, was speeding on his Suzuki motorcycle when he crashed into a Nissan and died on Gallatin Pike. McCoy, who was raised with Haynesworth by their mother Linda Haynesworth, was pronounced dead at Vanderbilt Medical Center. The other driver, Benjamin Smith, who wasn't injured, told police that he did not see the motorcycle until impact. He was not significantly injured.
"Obviously what he's going through right now is paramount," Redskins coach Mike Shanahan said about the 29-year-old Haynesworth, with whom he has been at odds over attendance, scheme and role for seven months. "We're giving him and his family all of our prayers and thoughts. I think that's the main concern right now. I would never ask somebody if they're going to play when a tragedy like that just happened. We'll just let the course of time take care of itself and we'll find out what's going on."
